What is Vaulterm?
Vaulterm is a free SSH client and terminal for Windows and Linux, made by WarPulse LLC. macOS is coming soon.
Is Vaulterm free?
Yes. Everything that runs on your computer is free, with no time limit. Paid plans will cover features that need our servers, like sync.
Do I need an account?
No.
Does Vaulterm work offline?
Yes. Other than your servers, Vaulterm only contacts our update server.
Where are my hosts and keys stored?
In an encrypted vault on your computer. Every record is encrypted, hostnames included, using Argon2 and XChaCha20.
What if I forget my master password?
Use the Recovery Key shown during setup. Vaulterm doesn't keep a copy of either.
Can I import from PuTTY, OpenSSH or Termius?
PuTTY and ~/.ssh/config, yes. Termius import is planned for the beta. See Switch to Vaulterm.
Does Vaulterm support SFTP, tunnels and jump hosts?
Yes. There's an SFTP browser beside each session; local, remote and SOCKS tunnels; and jump hosts, set on a host or a group.
Which systems does Vaulterm run on?
Windows 10 or later (64-bit), and 64-bit Linux as an AppImage, .deb or .rpm. macOS 12 or later is coming soon.
Is Vaulterm open source?
No.
Does Vaulterm have AI features?
Not yet. They're on the roadmap.
Why does Windows show a SmartScreen warning?
The installer isn't code-signed yet. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
How do updates work?
Vaulterm downloads updates in the background, checks their signature, and installs them on restart.
Is Vaulterm the same as Termora?
Vaulterm was called Termora until September 2026. It isn't related to the open-source Termora terminal.
